The image rights of players

The monthly income of a football player is made up of several parts, including his / her salary, the bonus game and signing of the contract and the percentage of the image rights of the player. The latter is related to the use of player image in advertising campaigns and marketing activities of the club.

Beckham Brand Ltd
There are however players with their image rights worth millions of Euros and in need of a more professional management of personal income. It is the example of David Beckham, who through his company Beckham Brand Ltd, controlled by the Company and 19 Entertainment, operates and manages his image rights.

To get an idea of figures in motion by Beckham Brand Ltd, (not including all advertising contracts of players such as the Adidas and Motorola among others), in 2008 the company generated revenues of Beckham for 11, 3 million Euros. Still in season 08/09 all revenue from the player's image rights amounted to 32.4 million Euros (ver. income of players with advertising).

Percentages
Other cases of media is that of Cristiano Ronaldo. The image rights of Portuguese player before moving to Madrid were completely managed by you and your agent Jorge Mendes. The time of their appointment by Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has ensured 50% of the image of the player. Currently the image rights of Cristiano Ronaldo is estimated between 80 and 90 million Euros, which exemplifies the importance of image rights of players in current football industry.

Taxes
Another case related to the image rights of players comes from Brazil. The average income of a player to play in Brazil is made up, 26% in salary, 7% in premium games, 7% in contract awards and 60% corresponding to the image rights. This difference in percentages is only one way the club and the player saved about 15% in taxes, with the club to sign a contract with the company representing the player for the exploitation of his image rights.
