The Professional Football Players Observatory, in partnership with the CIES (Centre International d'Étude du Sport), conducted a demographic study related to European players. One of the biggest highlights of the study is to analyze the number of players abroad to perform in 30 major European football leagues. In the study are considered foreign players who grew up in their country of origin and who were hired by a club of different country.

Broadly speaking, the 11,015 players who are part of flocks of clubs from 30 European major leagues, 3923 are foreigners. Of the 456 clubs, 158 are in their squad at least 11 foreign players and overall the European clubs have an average of 8.6 foreign players. Of the countries that import more players stand out to England with 59% and Portugal with 53%, while with regard to clubs, Arsenal is the team with more foreign players 91%, followed by Internazionale of Milan with 85%.

At a time when Joseph Blatter fight against excessive foreign clubs and against the mass naturalization of players, the task seems huge, given the numbers presented in this report.
